Answers to Questions Heard at REVISIONS

Q. Can I use a heart rate monitor like I had in my evaluation?

A. YES! We have heart rate monitors available for members to use. They are located in the file cabinet to the left of the front desk, please bring your employee ID to a staff member to check one out. - ALSO: all of our Spinner bikes are equipped with HR monitor watches, to use a monitor during a Spinning class, please leave your locker key on the hook in the closet in the GE room where the monitors are located – thanks!

Q. Why should I use a heart rate monitor?

A. It is important to track your heart rate especially during cardiovascular exercise to know if you’re working out effectively/efficiently. If your heart rate is above or below a certain “target zone” (specific to YOU) you may be working out too hard or not hard enough and therefore not getting the results you desire in the amount of time you have.

Q. What is “core training” and why is it so important?  Why should I do it?

A. Core training is strengthening your abdominals AND your lower back, so it’s not called an “ab” class. The abdominals are like any other muscle group, you still need to focus on working the opposing group, the lower back, when you work the abdominals. The abs and low back are so important because they’re stabilizer muscles for your entire body. If your core muscles are strong you’ll have better posture, balance, and decreased risk of injuries.

Q. What is the purpose of the Evaluation and Orientation process?

A. The purpose for the Evaluations are, one to show you where your fitness level is prior to becoming a REVISIONS member and secondly to motivate you to be retested in the future to show you that your hard work has paid off. It also allows the staff to better design an exercise program that will help you reach your fitness goals. The Orientation process is done not only to cover your tests results, but also to assure that a new member understands the Fitness Center, from the laundry service to the machines on the floor. We want every member to feel as comfortable as possible.

Q. How do I redeem my incentive points?

A. You can redeem your incentive points by simply filling out the “Get Stuff” form and handing it in at our front desk. If you have the form in by Thursday, your prize will be in your locker on Friday after 12 pm.

Q. Where can I get a heart rate monitor?
